Fifth Regional Conference

The 5th Regional Conference Towards Sustainable Transport 2017 was held at the Hotel Mona in Zlatibor, Serbia on 2nd and 3rd November 2017, organized by Transport and Logistics Managers Association Transportlog. The organizer’s wish at the Conference, was to present the current topics in the field of road transport and logistics, to discuss the challenges they are facing and to give answers to the questions of the Conference participants.

All participants were greeted by the Chairman of the Board of the Association TransportLog, Dr Aleksandar Manojlović, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings for the profession, for establishing dialogue and cooperation between businessmen, as well as between businessmen and the scientific community. In a similar manner, the Brigadier General of the Serbian Armed Forces, Željko Ninković, B.Sc. and M.Sc. Marina Milojević, in front of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, emphasizing the importance of such an event and wishing successful work during both days of the Conference. In addition to topics in the field of road transport and logistics, works from railway transport were presented, and all topics were stimulated the interest of the present.

The Congress program consisted of several topics in which eighteen works were expose. Within the thematic units of the first day, were analyzed works related to the development of an automated driving system, the role and significance of transport managers in public companies, waste management in transport, vehicle fleets and car services, systems for safety and protection of load compartment and TAPA certification, specificity of transport in the construction industry, prediction of driver’s working time, possibility of VAT refund from foreign countries, sustainability of the organization with the application of quality management system standards, directions for the development of a digital tachograph with deadlines for the start of implementation, growing the European Network and technological solutions to reduce the cost of using a tire and a new tire marking system.

On the second day were presented works related to specificity of transport and procurement of transport services in the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian armed forces, the impact of the selection of the service center in the region to transport costs and maintenance, application of universal devices in freight vehicles diagnostics, analysis of the level of service and financial sustainability of the system of technical inspections in the Republic of Serbia, potential effects of eco-driving in transport and logistics companies in the Republic of Serbia, contingents of permits for international road transport and their use, vehicle routing and new trends and models of use of company vehicles.

The organizers are grateful to all sponsors and partners who supported the Conference, lecturers who, by presenting the current topics of our profession, contributed to maintaining the high level of the Conference, participants from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and the Netherlands, without which this event would not have a special spirit.
